Current Guidance Highlights

K-12 students and staff are strongly recommended to mask indoors regardless of vaccination status

Asymptomatic students may remain in school and avoid interruptions to in-person education, even if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19, as long as they remain symptom free (asymptomatic).

How Do I Keep Myself And Others Safe While At School?

School Isolation Information

  • Get Vaccinated.
  • Strongly encouraged to wear a mask.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Get tested if you have sympthoms.

COVID 19-vaccines are safe and effective.

COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended for all eligible individuals in California, including teachers, staff, students, and adults sharing homes with these members of our K-12 communities

Masking

Wearing a mask is strongly recommended in indoor settings. It will help prevent both you and others from getting COVID-19. This is more important than ever with new, more easily transmitted variants of COVID-19 on the rise.

What Are Some Covid-19 Symptoms?

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea


What Parents Should Know About the Updated COVID-19 School Guidance 

The goal is to make sure all students get access to safe, in-person instruction. Safe in-person classes depend on:

  • Vaccination for all eligible people 6 months and older to reduce COVID-19 rates in the community

  • It is strongly recommended that K-12 students wear a mask indoors

  • Adults on K-12 school campuses are strongly encouraged to wear a mask when indoors with students

  • Schools also have access to free COVID-19 testing programs as another safe testing option
